In many Eastern European and Central Asian countries, many young people have limited access to high-quality university education, few opportunities for a semester abroad, few chances to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice. Insufficient quality of education causes lack of democracy, weak socio-economic situation and unequal society. Since 2000 COPERNICUS BERLIN has been working for equal educational opportunities to support the development of democracy, economic growth and progressive civil society.

In cooperation with Humboldt University Berlin and Free University Berlin, COPERNICUS BERLIN established two scholarship programs (IES, IIS). Thus, students from our target region are supported and receive a unique experience which they can later implement in their home countries.
