Constructing the Present from Moments in the Past

Description: The training course focuses on the theme "European dictatorships after 1945 as a tool of historical-civic education for youth work". The project will address various aspects of dictatorships and authoritarian forms of government in post-war Europe. In addition to tackling political violence, arbitrariness and propaganda, the project will also focus on everyday life. Thematic fields such as sports, music, youth culture or tourism will help the youth workers participants to understand the living conditions in a dictatorship and to compare them with their own experience. Issues such as resistance and the struggle for democracy, peace, human and environmental rights will also be addressed. The themes mentioned above are not only important elements of the arduous democratization in Europe, but also the components of a contemporary unifying social and political history of Europe.

Costs: No participation fee. 

Accommodation: The accomodation costs are covered. During the days of the training course participants will be accommodated in a&o berlin mitte, 3 times meal per day is also included. 

Travel: You can also stay 2 days longer or arrive 2 days earlier and explore the area at your own expense.
