Equality has no gender

Place: Brussels, Belgium

Venue: Youth Hostel Jacques Brel (in the heart of Brussels)

Description: The training course will involve 28 participants between 18-35 years old from 7 different countries (Germany, Belgium, Latvia, Italy, Bulgaria, Spain and Estonia). The main aim of training course  is to increase the awareness of gender issues in youth work by providing participants practical and reflective skills around gender equality. In this regard, the specific objectives of the project for participants are:

  • To reflect on their understandings of sex and gender and to increase their level of comfort with these issues.

  • To discover the main international commitments initiatives to gender equality.

  • To explore the causes and consequences of gender inequality.

  • To increase awareness of female/male stereotypes and gender biases in them. To initiate a discussion about some of the consequences of gender stereotyping.

  • To make youth workers reflect upon their own ideological and cultural background regarding gender role.

  • To recognize and understand gender-based violence as a severe form of gender discrimination and to take action to help prevent violence against women.

  • To discuss the role of youth workers to contribute to promoting the value of gender equality and building motivation of participants to act as gender equality advocates.

  • To be able to prepare an action plan for implementing concrete activities to promote gender equality at local level.

Working language: English

cost:Participation fee is 70 EUR. Travel expenses from Germany to Belgium and return will be reimbursed up to a maximum of EUR 230.

Accomodation: The accommodation costs are covered. During the days of the training course participants will be accommodated in 4-bed and 6-bed rooms in Youth Hostel Jacques Brel, 3 times meal per day is also included. 

 

Travel: You can also stay 2 days longer or arrive 2 days earlier and explore the area at your own expense.
